Hands down, the most debated downtown hangout, made its appearance less than a year ago in Kolonaki, soon evolving into a major meeting point. Mayor is one of the best all day resto bars, with cosmopolitan style mimicking the New York environment, standing out for its well-attained design and, of course, its services, whilst this year it awaits further renovated. Classy aesthetic, dominant wood and marble, hidden lighting create a glamourous setting, ideal for after office drinks and casual dining! With an emphasis on quality and upscale service, serves coffee in the morning, hearty brunch options and creative suggestions from an ethnic menu prepared by known chef Giorgos Stilianoudakis, who recommends diverse flavors with an urban touch. The menu is accompanied by an exemplary wine list from the Greek and international vineyard. Better still, premium labels and an inspired signature cocktail list from its imposing bar –one of the largest in Athens– perfect for hanging out with friends and socializing under the sounds of exceptional music! Daily from 07:30.

Stinking Bishop
www.stinkingbishop.gr , 36 Loukianou Str. & Spefsippou Str., Kolonaki, Athens, Τ. 213 0263656
By Titi Velopoulou, Photos: Maria Chatziioanidou
Introduced itself to us 4 years ago, instantly drawing out attention not only with its clever pun with the name of the street its located on but also with its british unique namesake cheese and its attention to detail. Like the good wine, the Stinking Bishop matures day after day welcoming us in the gastronomic piazza of Loukianou Str. rather revamped from this April. Maintaining its classy and casual chic character but adding a few earth bright tones, the new space, designed by Tzeni Tsoulakou (NORMA ARCHITECTS) became further enlarged, while the addition of an impressive bar with decorative references to wine cabinets was intentional to state its turn towards a more barista character. Therefore, besides the glass walk in cellar where more than 120 wine labels from the Greek and international vineyard rest (20 of which are offered by the glass), this year we also find a rich list of premium and rare options of spirits and long drinks (from a Nikka Taketsuru Pure malt Japanese whisky to a Kaufman Soft Vodka or from a Reserva de la Familia tequila to a Blue Coat Dry Gin), available in portions of 35 ml and 70 ml… All this paired together with a small but inspired bar food card, prepared by Babis Poulis with a characteristic casual easygoing style with international recipes, clean flavors with a well accepted ethnic twist which adds the necessary intensity to the dishes. What is there to say for the tuna ceviche with ginger and soya, the tuna with quinoa tampoule, the crispy duck and the grilled sea bass with lemongrass, while not missing is the John Stone dry aged rib eye for the demanding palates… From €40/person with wine. Daily 13:00-00:30.

Para Siempre
43 Charitos Str., Athens, Τ. 210 7210155
By Titi Velopoulou, Photos: Eleanna Kourkoulopoulou
At the vibrant Charitos Street, in Kolonaki, Para Siempre came to stay forever, as its name implies! The authentic style and unique aesthetics of this modern tapas bar have their own way to take you on a journey through Barcelona. Utilizing industrial elements such as visible concrete, restoration techniques, vintage tiles and handmade touches like the impressive square bar with doors from old refrigerators, the stools with bike pedals and the wooden decorative door on the wall, Mrs Dimitra Koutoulogeni, the architect, created a space with an intense sense of familiarity. After all, this was the objective of the owner Mr Sotiris Tsapralis and Mrs Helen Kostarelou, the life of the hangout. The menu is that of a typical tapas bar with Hispanic recipes and dishes celebrating the Mediterranean gastronomy. Its specialty might be a genuine paella valenciana, but its best sellers are the steamed clams and the rouladen from chicken fillet and jamon with pisto. Very delicious are also its bruscettas with imaginative combinations (such as tapas with eggs in tomato sauce and chorizo), perfectly accompanied by a fine bottle of wine. For the end, save some space for the chocolate tart. Tue.-Sun. 13:00-as late as it gets (13:00-01:00 the kitchen and weekends until 02:00).
